Post 10: English Lenguage Challenges

First I really don’t know how I could approve the first and second level with the test that you have to do when come into to university, because I always was bad in English in the school, It was a big surprise to me jjajja I am really grateful.  When I was in school all my friends love English, they watch many series or movies from United stated and listen only music in English, for that they understand very good and speak English fluently. I always love much the Latin-American music and I watch the movies with subtitle, for that I behind on my friends in this language.

This last three years I learn to read and listen much better to English, because I had have read for the university text in this language and also I had learn in third and fourth level to English. In this last two levels although I learn to understand English so much, I still it costs to me speak and write in other language, even it costs to me express me in Spanish! jajaja. I think the use of blog can help a little to learn to express in English but is not enough for really learn a new language. One can’t learn other idiom with only one class to week if the rest of these never use it.

Now I don’t interested travel to one country with speak English, I don’t have friends from Canada, USA or England, and I reed principally American Latin author in Anthropology, for all this I really don’t important speak totally good English. I know is important learn English because now is the language for communicate inter country, but I am happy with understand in general.

Post 9: Changes to my study programme

Well the career that I study is anthropology and it really has disappointed me a lot, at the University of Chile. I think a lot of things are missing for change to be a really good race. To begin, the first two years of common plan I think they are unnecessary, with one already enough, besides that these first two years all classes are in the rooms of 100 people, and in this classroom are from only you can do classes where the teacher speaks 3 hours. I also think that is really necessary more course of gender, there is only one in the third year and it is optional. I also believe that more Latin American anthropologists and women should be included in the bibliography of the courses, with 80% being European men.

In the race are missing more field trips, the theory is necessary but 4 years just reading you will not learn anything new. It is in field practice that I have really learned more, in contact with people, not locked in the classroom. Although we have three courses with field trips this is very little for the training of anthropologist.

On the other hand I think that the main problem that anthropology has is the teachers. Not all teachers are bad, but there are some who really dont know anything and only invent the class without really knowing what they are talking about. It is necessary a true evaluation of the teachers and contract new for the next year.

Post 7: My favorite TV show

Well when I was a child I watched TV very much, many shows do for kids, but now I don’t like me turn on the TV, never find good shows or movies and the news always report only lies. Although in the actually I watch shows and movies but I search in internet, is in there where I watch many films and also someone series.  I don’t like very much the US series, even if exist very good series make in United Stated I prefer watch the other countries like anime series for Japan or ancient Chilean soap opera.

I don’t be a fan to anime series, but the best show that I had watch is one of this called Full Metal Alchemist. This series is set in a fictional word, similar to the context after industrial revolution, where many people who can use the alchemy, give us much power.  It is about two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are very good alchemist to steel. They want recover his body than lose after when they were littler try to revive his mother with alchemy, but this went wrong and one of them lose all his body, finish with a armor how body, and the other lose one leg and one arm. For that they have to look for the entire world the philosopher’s stone, with this they believe can recover his body, but they don’t know what is done the stone…

Well, I recommend very much this anime, although if you don’t like anime.

Post 6: Postgraduate studies

Hello everybody, today I come to talk about the postgraduate studies.

Well, Nowadays I only think in finishing the career of anthropology, I really don’t want to do postgraduate studies in the future, because I think that aren’t necessary if I don’t work in academic work. Although, I think many times studying another career when I had finished this, I might study pedagogic or geography, but studying another career means being in a university five years more and I have to pay all tuition, because there is not scholarship for second career.

Despite this, now I come to search which postgraduate I would do, and I find something interesting. If I decide to study a postgraduate I will try not to do it in Chile, otherwise I will try to go to other country in South America and make a distance learning, preferably in Brazil or Mexico, because in these countries is where the anthropology has developed more. I am really interesting in Mexico National University Autonomous, I can try to study a master’s in “Education and Intercultural Anthropology”. This master studies the process of education in context of cultural diversity, as also unequal and discrimination context related to persons with disability. Unfortunately I don’t think that I can do this master in the future, because in addition I will have to pay all my stay in Mexico, and I see very difficult to be able to do this. 

Post 4: Someone I would like to meet

Hello! today I come to speak of a beautiful person that i like to meet. This person isn’t being a famous, but I think that in the future she will be the really famous women.  The first time that I see her was in a class to “mapuche ethngology”, class that I took this semester. She is called Charlotte Andersen; she is an exchange student from Zurich, Switzerland. Also being a woman with a very good style of dress and very nice face, a friend of mine told me that she told him that she was a dancer and music of different musical styles. She traveled three years ago through many European countries and fell in love with Andalusia in Spain, where she stayed for a complete year where she learned to play and dance flamenco. After that she traveled to other countries playing in a flamenco group which she joined, this one was called "Las flamencas". While traveling, she meet many other musical styles and learned to play them. Now her idea was to finish the semester traveling through Latin America learning new instruments and rhythms. I love music and I would like to learn new musical rhythms so I want to know Charlotte a lot, but I do not know how to talk to her.

Post 5: My future job

The future always is uncertain so is really difficult to me imagine in only one job. When I was a child I wanted work in many professions in the future, I wanted be a veterinarian, because I love the dogs, a teacher or also to be a delivery woman to gas. I really don’t know why I finished get in to study anthropology and now here I am jaja.

I always interested to me the education, but since I have scenic panic I wasn’t study pedagogy,   for that I want working in the future in this area and participate in various educative projects. I really hate I will working in an office, is a enslave work when you don’t share with other people and you enclosed behind a computer. My dream is working in a job where I have to travel so much and the work be in a group, which always share with people.

Despite this, my true dream actually is in the future, work like craftswoman, I love to do different art with my hands. When I am alone in my house I like so much began to painting, do things in wood or do ceramic birds. If I work to this in the future I was really happy, my problem is I a very bad businesswoman for that is very difficult to me sell the things that I do.

Well, I hope I will work in some job that makes me happy.

Post 3: my favorite movie

I think that it is difficult for someone to have only one favorite movie in all their lives, I believe that your interests always change. For that I am going to talk about the last movie that I liked so much, it is called "O menino e O mundo". This is an animation movie produced in Brasil the year 2013 directed by Ale Abreu, and it is about the life story of a little child that lived in middle of the field in a little country and got out for his home to the city to try to find his father, that went to work to the city and never came back.

I love this movie for different things. In a way for the type of animation (I have always liked the animation in general, when I was a child I wanted to study animation digital) that is very special because it combines all senses like synesthesia. The whole movie  has only sounds and music, you never listen to a conversation, this is very positive because I can watch it with my cousin who is deaf. Furthermore I like it so much the plot of the movie, is a social criticism  to capitalism and the consequences of progress in the life of  most of the persons in "third world".
This is a very beautiful movie, I recommend it to anyone to watch it!

Post 2: The best concert

Well, I love music, usually I am listening music almost all day, for that I try going to most of the gigs but the problem is the expensive of the ticket in the most of them. For lucky I listening principally music in Spanish and especially Chilean music, and this concerts are cheaper than the concert of foreigner artist, in special in English. Also, I don't like very much the big concert, I prefer the little gigs because in the bigs have many people and the artist don't connect with the public, for that i always search gigs in places more secrets.

Is very difficult choose one concert or gig because there many that come to my head, but now i remember one that I go the first semester that I fun very much. In this gig play "la floripondio", "sandino rockets" and "Fiscales ad hok" and I went with two friends of me. This gig was in recoleta in a place called “espacio recoleta”. I like much this concert because we can dance, listen and jump all the night, release all stress that we have because the end of the semester.

I rely want go soon to other concert, I want dance all night.

Post 1 I want to visit Ecuador

It is very difficult choose one country I want visit, If I had a lot of  money I would travel for many places of all the world. But I have always dreamed about going to visit Ecuador. I don't know anything about the history or life in Ecuador and I haven't met any person who had lived in there, but a friend of mine go the last year. She told my that Ecuador have variety of areas geographic and different climates, in the 283 561 km² you can find jungle, mountains and coast. I surprise my that don't exist the spring and autumn, only summer and winter, for this reason I don't wanted live the rest or my life in there.

Also, I want to visit Ecuador because I love the music and art of there, i want learn play "requinto", a instrument of string very similar to guitar. Other place when i am going is the Gayasamin's house, he was a artist that painted many pictures about the injustice in Latin America.

I hope some day can visit the beautiful country.

Semestre 2 2018 level 4

My Blog experience

Hi people, now to close my blog, for that today I will talk about my experience writing it. I think that writing this blog has helped me to express myself better in English, I think it is a good way to learn another language, since one has to learn to look for the words that serve to express what you speak daily in your native language. But what I would like more is for the blog to be creating a character, I do not like talking about my life so much, because it is very boring, so I would prefer more than to make a blog about your experiences, create stories of a fictional character.

I would have liked to write the life of a demon who works for the devil or an elephant locked in a zoo or a stray dog ​​in the central station. This would make classes more interesting and creative, also helping us to develop the language.

I've never really written a blog in my life, it is difficult for me to express myself with words even in my native language and the experience was not as difficult as I thought. One can talk about anything! It does not matter if it's interesting or not, in the end it's good to express yourself no matter if someone reads you or not.

Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

Helloo, today I have to talk about my favorite anthropologist. One of the people who most interest me is Margared Mead.

Margared Mead es una antropologa estadounidense, la cual se desempeña dentro de lo que se conoce como antropologia culturalista. She was born in Philadelphia in 1901, her father was a university professor, and her mother a social activist. She graduated in 1923 from Barnard College and became known in 1925 for his field work in Polynesia.

I find this author very important for her age because of the fact that she questioned the biologistic idea about the division of labor by gender. At this time it was believed that the sexual division of labor was justified in the biological differences of each sex, the woman had to work in the private and the man in the public. After all the research done by Mead to other cultures, she demonstrated the varied divisions of work that existed.

Currently there are still many people who continue with the idea of ​​biological determinism, which is why I think it is important to remember this expert.

Introduction to etnography

Hi, today i come to talk of my favorite subject in this semester, that it is call introduction to etnography.  The objetive of this subject is learn what is, and how does etnografy, for that, in one week in this semester all students have travell to a some place in chili and studing a some people with etnografy method.  In the begining of this subjet diferent teachers gave us theoretical classes on the ethnographic method and its different complications. After the week on the ground all classes are laboratories in which we have to organize the information collected, for later, make a video in wich we show our work.

Some of the content we learned was the idea of the importance of carnival as an expression of the popular culture of Mijail Batjin. This was very helpful in our work, since we went to invesigate the religious festival of a small town in the fourth region. The party was celebrated in conmemoration to the virgin, and is characterized by the presence of many dance groups that accompany the virgin in proecession.

This subject is my favorite because one learns much more in practice than in theory.

My favorite photography

Hi everyone, today I'm going to talk to my favorite photography. Almost all my photos disappeared because my computer was broken, but thanks to the internet I could find some photo. This is one my favorite photography, because in this I appear with my brother and our stuffed animals in the livingroom of my house. This photo was taken for my mother in the year 2003, i dont know exact day.
When I was a child, I with my brother invented many stories with stuffed animals, much better stories than Andy in Toy Story. Stories could be a love problem or even trips to other dimensions through the mirror. The stuffed animals in the photo were the main characteres of all the stories: Jamin the black, Courage the white, Dog cowgirl the white with brown, and Scooby the brown. Although we did not have much imagination to put the names to stuffed animals, in the histories we had some imagination.
Almost all my childhood I spent creating these stories, so for me this picture represents a lot.

Pets the best companions

For me, the pets are very important for the life, I always had dogs, since I born. For this reason my favorite pets are the dogs, I never had any other type of pet, but I will like have a cat someday.  

Actually I live with 2 dogs; my female dog called Chini and my male dog called Melchor. I love my two pets. But the Saturday arrived to my house other dog, called Dracaris, and has only 2 months. Dracaris only live in my house for one month, she is the dog to one friend of mine, I will take care of her meanwhile my friend change the house.

The pets have been very important in the human history; the dog for example has been with us for millions of years, helping each other. All the pets help to develop to life with better relationship with your entire world.

But despite all this actually there many problems related to pets. Many people think that the animals are propriety of the human and do with them what they want, mistreating them sometimes. The animals are not propriety, are a wonderful companions.

My favorite pice of technology

Daily I use various types of technology, principally my computer and my cellphone, but my favorite piece of technology is my mp4.

My mp4 gifted my parents in my 16th birthday; I use it from that day to the present. I used it in my bedroom with my talking or when walking from my house to de university, because I living very close. I don’t use all days but very often.

I think that the music it make the day more wonderful, I like very much walk quietly listen music, but sometimes think I should not do it, because I just disconnect to the people and the world, often people talk to me and I pass by not listening.

Even if it's my favorite piece of technology I think my life would not change much without it. This artifacts are not essentials in the life. 

When i was a child, i admired the people who work in the gas bus, they shouting and beat gas ball, i wanted work in this job. After, with a little more years i wanted to be veterinary and after teacher, but when i reach adolescence i started to hate the school then i was not work in these (teacher).
In the last year to school i was between choose antropology, geography, digital animator and sociology. I decide antropology after a conversation with my cousin, who is antropologist. He told me that if i dont know what i wanted, it was best to choose antropology, because this career is the most "complete".
My experience in the university it has not been very positive. I think that teach us much teory and little practice, also does not develop much the critical analysis.

Hello, my name is Amalia Ahumada and start this blog posting my biography.
I was born in Santiago de Chile on 18th July in 1997. I am de second child of my mother and the third of my dad, how has a boy when he was a young. Since my first day I living in the same house in Macul. I spend all my chilhood in the same school, the Liceo Manuel de Salas, I went to this school because my dad work in there, bouth of my parents are teachers of history.
When I left the school, I start studying antropology in the Universidad de Chile.
In my house we living with two dogs, their names are Chini and Melchor, before I lived with other dog but he die the last year.
Since I was a child I liked drawing, but i do not draw much anymore. I actually like them more play the guitar or the charango.
